Lacey Carter, Alana Stewart McCoy, Victoria Solis and Nettie James were born in Tyler, Texas in 1970. They became best friends in kindergarten. Growing up in Tyler they were taught good morals, self-respect, and to love God and thy neighbor.
Lacey dreamed of someday being a famous country western singer; Alana fantasized about marrying a successful man and having several children; Nettie wanted to become a doctor and to care for the needy; and Victoria planned to take her parents to visit their homeland Greece after high school graduation.

The woman friends reunite, at a western guest ranch in Montana twenty five years after graduating from high school. When they meet, it’s like time's stood still--like they’ve never been apart. While at the ranch they share their present life situations, meet new friends, and remember the times they had growing up in Tyler.

Synopsis:  "Farewell to Freedom" Released December 2010

Farewell to Freedom Winner for Best Fiction -- 2011 National Indie Excellence Book Award Contest

Forty-seven year old, Cheyenne Stevens meets a handsome cowboy, Rowdy Harrison from Freedom, Oklahoma in Las Vegas during the National Finals Rodeo. After a sinful Vegas weekend, the cowboy invites her to visit him in on his Oklahoma ranch. They fall in love. Cheyenne leaves an idyllic life in the city to live with the cowboy in a dilapidated bunk house on a run-down ranch in Freedom, Oklahoma.

The love affair soon becomes a business relationship when Cheyenne finances Rowdy’s fledgling bucking bull business. Thanks to her generosity, the once broke cowboy’s life forever changes.  She spends several years in the small cow town putting up with Rowdy’s drinking and womanizing. Over time she realizes that moving to Freedom was a huge mistake, but her financial investment there is so large she can’t just walk away.

Life with Rowdy Harrison is a wild roller-coaster ride. Cheyenne Stevens sees her world tumble down around her. In the end, she flees Oklahoma, feeling lucky to have a shirt on her back.  Overwhelmed with sadness, she wishes that her life with the ruthless Oklahoma cowboy had just been a bad dream. Unfortunately, it was all too real. Life in Freedom was an unbelievable journey--one she would never forget.

Driving away from Freedom thirteen years later, memories flood her mind. Cheyenne thought. I'll write a book about the Freedom experience. There is certainly one hell of a story to tell.
